Divya Mehra | Video Works 2002-2006

Divya Mehra | video works 2002-2006 will feature the artist’s output of finished video artworks made over the last four years. At the core of Mehra’s practice is the anxiety brought about by and reflected back upon her contemporary situation with regard to what she refers to as a ‘split-existence’ being too Indian for white society, and overly white for her Indian culture. The videos in this screening present a delicately smart balance between humour and despair. At just under one hour in length titles include: Bollywood Overload, The Yogi, The Taxi Driver, etc. This is a curatorial project under-development by J.J. Kegan McFadden. There will be an open discussion after the colourschool screening. The completed version of_ Divya Mehra | video works 2002-2006_ will be presented at Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art (Winnipeg) in February 2007 as part of their on-going Quick Response series.video works in colour (2002-2006)
